Kelly Clarkson responds to body-shamers as she poses with her darling River Rose on magazine cover

Kelly Clarkson and her beautiful baby daughter look the perfect picture of happiness as they pose for a photoshoot for a magazine cover.

But since giving birth to River Rose eight months ago, the new mother has had to endure harsh comments about her weight.

The singer, 33, told the May edition of Redbook magazine that she isn't one of those Hollywood moms who just bounce back into shape post-pregnancy.

'There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism – that is not me,' she explained.

'I wish I had a better metabolism. But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has.' 
She elegantly dismissed on-line haters who have commented on her body size. 

British TV personality Katie Hopkins tweeted a string of rude comments about Kelly, then in an interview with Access Hollywood in early March, Katie, 40, defended her stance, saying 'ultimately Kelly Clarkson is a chunky monkey.'

I don't obsess about my weight,' Kelly told Redbook, 'which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it.' 

Kelly says she didn't have a great male role model growing up but has found a supportive and loving husband in talent manager Brandon Blackstock.

'I always swore ours would not be a relationship where we have to schedule sex. That is never going to happen,' she said. 

'We put each other first. I call it the oxygen-mask mentality—take care of yourself first!' said the singer, who won the first series of American Idol in 2002.

'I've never believed in someone taking care of me, and that's probably because I grew up poor and without a lot of family stability.'

Kelly is also stepmom to Brandon's two children - Savannah, 13 and Seth, 9.

Brandon's step-mom, country singer Reba McEntire told Access Hollywood on Tuesday that she's the happiest she's ever seen her. 
The flame-haired Voice mentor said, 'I've known Kelly since 2002 when she won the first American Idol...she's had ups and downs but 

she's as happy as she's ever been'.  
The Because of You hitmaker is taking her baby girl with her on tour in Australia next month before dates across America and Canada in July.
